An End to 2015

“A man who becomes conscious of the responsibility he bears toward a human being who affectionately waits for him, or to an unfinished work, will never be able to throw away his life. He knows the ‘why’ for his existence, and will be able to bear almost any ‘how.'”

–Viktor Frankl

We’ve been blessed throughout the year to do the work we are here to do. We know it’s a privilege to be able to do what we do. Somehow — miraculously, even — God has given us the opportunity to help bring his kingdom more fully to Earth through the gifts He has given us. That’s why we exist. Our gift just happens to be loving people by providing accessible, quality dental care. We get to love Him, we continue to grow in our love for Him, and we get to share that love with our patients and their families.

We have been given the opportunity to change lives by giving our patients access to healthy, confident smiles.

We have been able to inspire our patients and their families to learn how to change their habits and take control of their health. We want them to be confident in their ability to manage their oral health. And hopefully inspired our younger patients to become dentists along the way!

We have shown our patients that seeking dental care does not have to be terrifying. We want them to feel welcomed and loved.

We have embraced the opportunity to educate and empower communities to implement preventative practices to stop problems from developing!

We have traveled all over Uganda to offer safe, quality dental care in communities where it is not available.

We know our work is needed, and we know it is important, so we are grateful for the opportunity to do it. We know people are waiting for us to reach them and offer our services to them. We are proud of the community we have developed, and confident we are building something truly unique and special.

It’s been great for me to reflect and think about our work this year. While we are proud and grateful for the progress we have made, we also realize we have the opportunity to be more effective and reach more people and impact more lives. We have specific, exciting goals to share with you over the next few weeks for 2016!

A favorite saying of ours around here is, “Our work is never easy, but always good.” That certainly will never change. We know the One who has called us here is trustworthy, so we can risk and sacrifice and strive in 2016 knowing God has secured our ultimate need — knowing and loving Him.

Happy New Year everybody.
